Travel by Road
The journey to Ongava is approximately 430 km (267 miles) from Windhoek along a paved main road, leading you to the reserve gates.
For those departing from Windhoek, follow the B1 to Otjiwarongo, then take the C38 through Outjo towards Okaukuejo. At the signpost indicating Ongava, make a left turn off the tarmac road.
The entrance to the Ongava Game Reserve is situated across from the Ombika Gate entrance to Etosha.
From here, a short stretch of well-maintained gravel road will guide you from the reserve gates to the different lodges. Along the route, clear signage will guide you to your chosen lodge.
Travel by air
Private or charter aircraft can fly directly to Ongava's 1200-meter airstrip within the reserve, providing a convenient option for guests seeking a more exclusive and efficient travel experience.
Ongava Airstrip is located approximately 15 minutes by road from the Ongava Private Game Reserve. This duration depends on wildlife sightings, scenery, and photographic opportunities along the way.
